If your fascias are rotting, your soffits are flaking or your gutters are sagging and overflowing in Huntingdon, call Big Red Roofing on [PHONE] for a free quote. We are a family-run roofing company based in town and we replace tired timber roofline with clean, low-maintenance uPVC that protects the edge of your roof and lifts the whole look of your home. New roofline never needs painting, it just needs the occasional wipe, and it keeps the weather off the timbers that hold your roof together.

What our roofline work covers

The roofline is the trim around the edge of your roof, the fascias, the soffits and the guttering, and it does a bigger job than people realise. It closes off the roof, keeps the rain off the rafter ends, and carries water away from the house. Here is what we replace and renew.

The signs your roofline needs replacing

Roofline problems are easy to spot once you know what to look for. Peeling, flaking paint on the boards, fascias that have gone soft or black with rot, soffits that sag or crumble, and gutters that overflow in heavy rain or pull away from the wall are all telling you the roofline is past its best. Inside, damp at the top of the walls or in the corners of upstairs rooms can be down to a failing roofline letting water track back into the brickwork.

Cambridgeshire weather makes timber roofline work hard. Driving rain off the Fen country soaks into old painted boards, and once the paint goes the wood drinks up water and rots fast. Overflowing gutters then make it worse, soaking the fascia from behind. Catching it early and switching to uPVC saves the timbers behind and stops the damp spreading. If you have noticed any of these signs, it is worth a free look.

How we do it properly

We do not just cap over the old timber and hope, which is the corner-cutting way some traders work. We take the old boards off, check the rafter ends and the roof edge for rot, and put right anything that has gone before the new roofline goes on. We make sure the ventilation is right so the loft can breathe, set the gutters to the correct fall so water runs to the downpipes, and fit everything cleanly with the right brackets and trims. The scaffold or access goes up safely, the old material comes down and goes in our van, and we leave your home looking smart and protected.

What makes Big Red different

We are local and family-run, and roofline is one of those jobs where the difference between a proper installer and a passing trader really shows. When you call, you talk to the people doing the work. You get a clear written quote, fully insured work and a workmanship guarantee, and we are happy to show you roofline we have done nearby. It is also the smart job to combine with a new roof while the scaffold is already up, and if your gutters are blocked we also offer roof cleaning and gutter clearing. We cover the whole area, see our areas we cover page. Ready to tidy up your roofline? Get a free quote or call us today.

Good questions

Roofline questions, answered straight

What is the difference between a fascia and a soffit?
The fascia is the upright board along the edge of the roof that the gutter is fixed to. The soffit is the board underneath it that tucks back to the wall and closes off the gap under the roof overhang. Together with the guttering they make up the roofline, and they protect the ends of your roof timbers from rain. We replace all of it in uPVC in Huntingdon so it never needs painting again.
Why should I replace timber fascias with uPVC?
Old timber fascias and soffits soak up water, rot, flake and need painting every few years. Once they rot they stop protecting the roof timbers behind them and the damp spreads. uPVC does not rot or need painting, it just needs a wipe down, and it keeps the weather off the timbers for decades. It is one of the best value upgrades you can make to a Huntingdon home.
Do new fascias and soffits help with roof ventilation?
Yes. When we fit a new roofline we build in proper ventilation, usually through vented soffits or over-fascia vents, so air can move through the roof space. That stops condensation building up in the loft, which is what causes damp, mould and rotting timbers. It is an easy thing to get right when the roofline is being replaced anyway.
Can you replace just the guttering?
Yes. If your fascias and soffits are sound but the guttering is leaking, sagging or overflowing, we can replace just the guttering and downpipes. Often though, if the gutters have been overflowing for a while, the fascia behind has started to rot, so it is worth letting us take a look. We cover Huntingdon and the surrounding towns and every quote is free.
